Discover Easington

A hidden gem on the edge of England

Easington sits right at the far south-eastern tip of the East Riding of Yorkshire, where Holderness meets the North Sea and the Humber Estuary. It's a peaceful, friendly village with big skies, quiet lanes and a real sense of being away from it all, and The Granby sits right at its heart.

The village has plenty of character of its own, including the historic All Saints' Church and its thatched tithe barn, one of the few surviving examples in the region.

A paradise for birdwatchers

Easington is one of the best-known birdwatching spots in the UK. Its position on the coast makes it a first landfall for migrating birds crossing the North Sea, and every spring and autumn birders travel from across the country hoping to spot rare visitors. Nearby Easington Lagoons are home to breeding little terns in summer, along with waders and wildfowl throughout the year.

Spurn Point

Just a few miles down the road is Spurn, a narrow, ever-changing sand and shingle spit stretching more than three miles into the mouth of the Humber. Managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, it's a National Nature Reserve and a truly unique landscape. Climb the restored Spurn Lighthouse for panoramic views of the coast and estuary, visit the Spurn Bird Observatory, look out for seals offshore, or simply enjoy the wild, open scenery.

Lovely walks

Whether you fancy a gentle stroll or a full day out, there are great walks right on our doorstep: along the coast path and beaches, out across the open Holderness countryside, or the unforgettable walk out to the tip of Spurn. Check the tides and reserve guidance before heading out to Spurn, and don't forget your binoculars.

Make a day of it

After a day of walking or birdwatching, there's nowhere better to warm up than The Granby. Pop in for a pint and a hearty meal, and if you'd like to stay longer, The Granby Rooms make the perfect base for exploring Easington and Spurn.
